Strategic Response

Strategic Response is about creating genuine strategic choice before moving into Solution Definition.

Start with the agreed Problems, Benefits and KPIs, then explore genuinely different ways the organisation could respond. Useful lenses can include Demand, Productivity and Supply to broaden the thinking beyond a single preferred approach.

A strong set of Strategic Options should represent distinct pathways, not simply different versions of the same Solution. Each option should also be supported by the key capabilities, services or functions that would need to change for it to succeed.

A useful test is:

Could this Strategic Option be implemented through more than one possible Solution?

The resource below provides a practical guide to developing and testing Strategic Options that create genuine strategic choice.
